The Distinction of Purpose
Our approach is defined by actionable inspiration rather than mere decoration. Powered by creativity that makes sense, we empower forward-thinkers and those navigating a purposeful path toward a smarter lifestyle. From the meticulous nature of the sciences to the fluid world of the arts, we believe creativity is a resource available in excess to us all – it simply requires the right foundation to flourish.
The Foundation:
The SmartShop Brand was created by our CEO, Ọgọ Ogbata (pronounced ‘or-gore or-gbata’).
As the founder of the Creativity and Sense Group, Ọgọ Ogbata operates at a unique intersection of disciplines. Her background in Computer Science provides the structural logic and precision that underpin our “Sense” philosophy, while her life as an Artist informs the aesthetic soul and “Creativity” of our collections. As an Entrepreneur, she synthesises these two worlds, transforming abstract inspiration into actionable resources for a smarter lifestyle.
Through this multifaceted lens, she gradually identified four essential pillars for achieving meaningful success: Creativity, Supportive Networks, Learning Culture, and Legacy-driven Causes. These principles are not merely concepts; rather they are the architectural foundations that permeate our entire brand and ethos.
Ọgọ’s insights have been featured across prestigious global platforms, from her role as a guest expert for the BBC World Service to her contribution as a top voice for The Independent on Sunday.
Having addressed industry leaders at live seminars in historic venues such as Bush House on The Strand, London, she continues to shape modern discourse. Her thought leadership has been featured in specialist publications including Training Journal and Training Zone, where she explored the intersection of professional productivity and creative vision.
The Visionary Path
Discover the journey of resilience and the moments of inspiration that shaped our heritage…
Early Foundations:
From a young age, I fell in love with the quiet power of the written word and its ability to transform how we see the world. Rarely seen without my head buried in a book or two, it was clear to me, even then, that being surrounded by positive words and images allowed people to become more resilient, creative, and ultimately, more successful.
During my formative years, the encouragement of family and friends did more than just spur me on; it created the internal architecture I needed to persevere through rigorous exams and excel in the pursuit of both technical and creative mastery.
Navigating the Noise:
As I began to share my vision for a brand that unified logic and artistry, the feedback was not always encouraging. I was often met with the suggestion to “focus on one thing,” as if creativity and sense were a contradiction rather than a partnership.
Navigating this external noise required a different kind of resilience. I had to learn to trust my intuition over the conventional wisdom of the time, remaining steadfast in the belief that a smarter lifestyle must be built on both structure and soul.
A Winter in London:
Once, while developing a new concept for a leadership event, I was invited to a workshop in London designed for entrepreneurs to peer-review their ventures. It seemed the ideal opportunity. So in the depth of a freezing winter, I began my commute at 4:00am, arriving with an optimistic “spring in my step,” eager for constructive collaboration.
Unfortunately, the response was largely discouraging. Several attendees dismissed the vision based on the limitations of their own unrelated experiences. It was such an isolating moment. There is a unique difficulty in presenting a meaningful idea only to have it fundamentally misunderstood.
Springing Back:
I chose not to let this define the venture—after all, individuals cannot see what they have not yet experienced. Determined to protect the vision, I spent the following weeks refining my objectives and seeking out more aligned, supportive networks. I intentionally immersed myself in inspirational environments and art to maintain my creative momentum.
As my faith is the cornerstone of my identity and work, I committed the venture to prayer, while actively cultivating a disciplined mental state. I chose to bypass the discouraging noise, focusing instead on “lovely and pleasant reports” to ensure my internal architecture remained sound.
The Realisation of Vision:
Months later, that same concept was delivered in London. It was a significant success, largely due to the inclusive and impactful structure I had fought to protect. This initial success became the foundation for a series of events and frameworks specifically designed to support the creative vision of fellow entrepreneurs.
As the results of these frameworks became evident, interest grew. I was increasingly invited to share my insights with wider audiences, speaking on the intersection of creative leadership, professional productivity, and the entrepreneurial spirit. What began as a misunderstood idea in a winter workshop had evolved into a proven methodology for others.
Rediscovering Creativity:
In 2019, I took the opportunity for a sabbatical – an extended blend of travel and rest that provided the essential space to breathe, refresh, and rejuvenate. A year later, as the world was forced into the dramatic stillness of the 2020 lockdowns, that space for reflection deepened.
In both seasons, I rediscovered my childhood passion for art and design. Suddenly I was transported to a distant past, vividly remembering: the messy stain of water colour paint on wooden furniture as I drenched pencil sketches with vibrant colours in my youthful exuberance. I could almost smell the spirited scent of the paint and feel its stickiness on my fingers as I experimented with slender brushes.
This time, however, the art flowed with a new ease – less messy and profoundly nourishing to my soul. In that creative immersion, I found a sense of fulfilment and happiness that was entirely distinct from professional achievement.
Spreading Joy:
A while later, as family and friends were celebrating various milestones, a new idea took shape. Rather than sending traditional greeting cards—which are lovely but often have a limited shelf life—I decided to gift them wall art featuring my own designs. I sent them out with a mix of excitement and a quiet wonder as to how they would be received.
The response was overwhelming. Every person I gifted was deeply encouraged and moved. On a typical wet, wintry afternoon in the UK, a clear realisation emerged: while creativity is essential for navigating today’s world, it remains the missing spark for far too many.
Determined to share this clarity, I partnered with some of the leading companies in the world to offer the evolving calibre of tools and inspiration used by the world’s top minds – and which I continue to use to refine my own path. The result is a curated blend of productivity frameworks and meaningful art, designed to fuel your creativity, joy, and success every day.
When people of like minds come together, change is possible. Everyday is an event worth savouring and celebrating.
Our SmartValues:
Our message is one of creativity, passion, and success with impact. We are here to encourage you on your journey and help you empower those you care about.
Success is deeply personal. For us, it is not about “keeping up with the Joneses,” but about achieving the most meaningful and positive goals at every stage of life. To reach our highest potential, we require unique approaches, original solutions, and a supportive community. We believe in the power of helping others as we rise.
Unique approaches and solutions are vital in order to attain our highest potential and purpose in life. Community too: we need people to help us and need to help others.
Passion and Experience:
Prior to founding this Group, I worked within various idea generation and business growth teams. This, coupled with a natural curiosity, has conditioned me to see possibilities first. I explore how ideas can work rather than dismissing them prematurely.
In a learning environment, there is no such thing as an unrealistic idea or a “silly” question. While not every concept is immediately feasible, creators require constructive feedback—not destructive knock-backs. One idea, well-nurtured, can blossom and positively impact many for years. Conversely, when a single idea is destroyed, the negative ripples can last for generations. This is why a profound value for creativity and diversity of thought is at our very core.
“If you think knowledge is expensive, try ignorance.” Derek Bok
Now, more than ever, those who thrive are those who possess the ability to think beyond traditional boundaries. But intelligence alone is not enough. Even the most capable individuals require supportive networks, practical skills, and a constant source of inspiration. This is exactly what The SmartShop offers you.
